The Secret Genius of Modern Life: Rollercoaster
BBC Two · BBC Studios

Hannah Fry gets under the skin of the modern rollercoaster — from its unlikely origins to the extraordinary engineering behind today’s biggest thrill rides, including Thorpe Park’s Hyperia.

I cut the episode from start to finish, bringing together science, history, archive, demonstrations and some very big bits of engineering. The challenge was to make a fairly dense story about physics and technology feel fast, funny and effortless — while still giving the bigger sequences room to build and land.
