Gino’s Italy: Secrets of the South — Matera
ITV
A journey through Matera and the food traditions of Basilicata, from its extraordinary cave city to the bakers, producers and recipes that give the region its character.
Food and travel have been a major part of my work for years, not just in the edit but also as a director and camera operator — from filming with the Hairy Bikers to directing and shooting music-led travel projects and tours with Unlit. That experience feeds directly into the way I approach films like this: finding the character of a place through people, food, landscape and detail.
The Matera episode was about giving all of those elements room to breathe while still keeping the journey warm, entertaining and visually rich.
I’ve also edited other films in the Gino’s Italy series, including a Christmas special.
